Singer-songwriter Pete Yorn makes his eagerly anticipated return with his fourth studio album titled, Back and Fourth, the follow up to 2006's Nightcrawler. This album finds the Montville, New Jersey native using a more organic and natural sounding musical embodiment along with his soothing voice and relaxing acoustic guitar to create a solid and well-defined album.

The album's first single, "Don't Wanna Cry" is a serene and calm ballad that cuts to the core of raw human emotion with deep instrumentation and a somber yet elegant acoustic guitar melody. "Paradise Cove" is a more upbeat and optimistic tune with the acoutsic guitar acting as a beacon for the wide variety of emotions that are present during the song. "Shotgun" is a melodic tune that picks up the use of the electric guitar and integrates it quite well in this song. All of Pete Yorn's prior studio albums have done a fine job of capturing the emotion and intensity of people doing everyday things and living ordinary lives.

My favorite track on the album is "Last Summer", a reflective tune about love lost and looking back on the feelings that existed between two people at that point in time. The tune has a wonderful melody and makes great use of a full backing band to accompany this beautiful song. Other standout tracks include "Thinking Of You", a song that echoes like a voice in the wind with Pete's amazing vocals higlighting this unique and special track. "Country" is a stripped and bare bones song about getting away from the confines of the city and retreating to your roots to find some comfort in your life.

All together, this is a honest and well thought out album that best captures the emotion and feelings of people that we meet everyday in our lives. Pete Yorn is a dazzling and talented musician who has delivered an album that continues to showcase his earnest lyrics and his amazing guitar abilities. We look forward to hearing more great music from him in the future and hopes he continues to display his talents to the world.
