Does it matter how many sexual partners someone has had if you want to be with them? Have any of you ever lied about your number, either said you had more then you actually have or said you have had less, and if so why?

It doesn't really matter to me how many sexual partners my boyfriends have... and my friends and I always say we're going to lie about our numbers and say that they're less than they really are... but we never do.

Sad to say there's a great disparity between genders. I personally can't even think about any girl i'm with and her "number"

It doesn't really matter much to me. As long as we're both "clean," then that should be fine.

What matters to me is the type of relationships my boy has had before me.

I only care about hers, because when I finally DO go on a date with someone in the far future, I know that I'll probably end up being the one who's very uncomfortable with sexual advances.

I do think it would matter to me if there's a really large disparity, only because it could be indicative of a lot of other differences. That's not to say a relationship couldn't work out, but it would be something that you'd have to address pretty quickly upfront.

A few years ago, I remember lying to someone because I wanted to seem MORE experienced. Definitely a silly move, because the truth came out eventually (if it wasn't immediately apparent with my fumbling)

I've never lied about it and have had no need to. My current bf and I have almost the same amount of ex partners so no big deal there. I do know that his ex-girlfriend had a lot of sexual partners before him, which he says really bothered him.

People shouldn't judge on someone's numbers. I find it just ridiculous. The only thing you should care about is the type of people that they have dated and how it might influence your relationship. Really? Does a number matter that much? I mean you really shouldn't share that with anyone anyways. Its your past and you should only look to the future.

Totally not a big deal, but it depends on what kind of relationship you're in. If you're with a guy you've been dating for a long time - doesn't matter. If it's someone you've known for like a week, that's gonna be a way bigger issue.
